BUSINESS / Wrongdoing and Corruption
There are masses of people of victims of wrongdoing and corruption every day. Within the past 5 years your local police force has managed to reduce the victim rates of such grievous crimes as rape, pimping, robbery, murder, mugging, joyriding, hit-and-run driving incidents by over 15%, a huge achievement of which we are very proud. Theft, shoplifting, trespassing, pick-pocketing, vandalism and public violence andassault rates are also on the decrease, supported by the vigilance of our public, although we would still advise extreme caution when faced with such a situation and would always encourage the public to contact the police immediately in such an incident before trying to take the law into your own hands. If you are aware of a local racket, or resident claiming to be in contact with racketeer-based crimes such as money laundering orsmuggling, please pass this information on to the local authorities. Obviously, more flamboyant crimes such as hostage taking, kidnapping or hijacking a plane are not a common concern for the local authorities and not common place in your district. Where the police would like to encourage you the public to hold utmost diligence are in the cases of the 'unseen' crimes which are slowly crippling our economy. Counterfeiting and embezzlement crimes are at an all-time high, with fake, low-quality products andfrauds pouring onto the market at record pace. The police are aware of tax evasion incidents and kickbacks being received as bribes for services and blackmail. There has also been a rise in arson related cases, where suspicion of fake insurance claims is high. Should you be aware of any such incidents taking place, please do not hesitate in reporting them and helping us make your district a safe and crime-free place to live in. |
